A true lover of fragrance, Ogi Merzier-Emiabata launched Above Average Candle Studio in 2021 with the goal of creating connections to help heal others (and herself) after the world wide pandemic. A previous retail Area Manager/Store Manager for fragrance brands giants, Bath & Body Works and UK Based The Body Shop, Merzier-Emiabata is a certified perfumer, artist and established entrepreneur. A lifelong Chicagoan, hailing from the city's East Garfield Park neighborhood, she was one of the first to open a hands on candle making experience in Chicago. Featured on WGN Channel 9 News, WTTW'S Black Voices Tonight and The Roku Channel's/CBS'S Destination Chicago, she has big plans for her company More Than Average LLC which includes creating scentsational experiences all across the world! Our Candle Studio Assistants are fully invested in the future of our business. They are passionate about fragrance, creativity and exceptional customer service. Cool, funny and reserved, Tyler takes great pride in creating perfectly blended custom scents for our guests and calls himself "the fragrance mixologist". Sam's optimistic personality and infectious energy makes him a great host for any occasion. His intent to make your event "the best experience ever" is unmatched. Dedicated to excellence and detail, Starr loves seeing the magical moments that our experiences create for our Candle Makers. Starr has a warm and friendly vibe that makes her a delightful & wonderful host.
Jacob uses humor to help create a relaxing upbeat vibe at our studio. A lover of music he is a "ROCKSTAR" instructor.
